Jim was such a wonderful mentor, teacher, and friend. I met Jim at the Universitet i Tromsø and he, more than any other teacher I've possibly ever had, put me on the track to where I am now by imbuing in me the confidence to do the research I wanted to do. He partnered with me on projects and helped me achieve my first publications. But more than that, he encouraged me through every insecurity or doubt I felt about the validity of my experience and the value of my work. I wish I had spoken with him more during the last two years. I would have liked to tell him again how much he inspires me and how grateful I am to have known him.
My greatest condolences to his family who are surely missing this wonderful person. With love, Ellen Dobrowolski
